Casa Lisboa, Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong

This restaurant was highly recommended by a colleague – I was excited as I have wanted to eat Portugese food for a while but have not had the chance to go to Macau lately. Casa Lisboa can be found in the LKF tower, the restaurant itself was quite big and had a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

The lunch menu is quite reasonable – set menu which consists of complimentary snacks of bread and olives, a choice of soup or salad, choice of main course and any dessert with tea / coffee for HKD168.

We started with some bread and different types of butter (which I can’t remember!), unfortunately the bread was cold and a little hard for my liking.

The olives weren’t great I thought, I love olives and have eaten a fair share of it, and these weren’t fresh.

I couldn’t go past the pumpkin soup and this was deliciously creamy but yet light.

C, my colleague, had the vegetable soup which he thought was a little bland.

I couldn’t go past the steak Portuguese style, which was nicely char-grilled and had a nice and firm texture. The egg on top was cooked to perfection and was a wonderful complement. The potato crisp I didn’t enjoy, I would have preferred potato chips or mash potatoes! It was good but I have definitely had better, especially in Sydney – Bodega.

C ordered the Grouper which was served on a bed of baked potatoes and vegetables. Unfortunately the fish was incredibly salty that it was not edible. We probably should have said something to the chef but he didn’t bother nor care for it.

Unfortunately, C really didn’t enjoy his meal and didn’t want dessert. I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed as I had high expectations. I did notice that most of the diners did order pork and it looked good!

Service was friendly and polite. Unfortunately C didn’t enjoy the food at all and did not rate it, whereas I thought there was definitely room for improvement. The soup and the steak was alright, maybe C just picked the wrong dishes!
